Countering distractions to become more productive

Many people tend to blame someone else they see nearby when there is a problem or something wrong is happening. This way, people feel comfortable when pointing out to different directions instead of pointing out to themselves. Regarding the working period distractions, if we were asked what is the main distracting element we all have, everybody would point to mobile devices. Alarms, notifications, open tabs, all of them are external stimuli distracting everybody who is in front of the screen. However, in this case, solutions are not related to blame technology.

It is our own responsibility to get focused in order for distractions not to affect our working skills. Something true is that technology can be both a distraction driving force and generator. Behind all that though, there must be a deeper reason leading us to stop what we are doing and waste time. Currently, time is a very precious thing that we cannot let go so easily. We have to take advantage of it and use all required means to make it useful as best as possible.

Retaking the fundamental reason that makes us feel distracted, each one of us has to do a personal insight and identify these reasons. It might be because of lack of energy or not having breakfast or a meal that makes the brain feel less capable of working at its maximum capacity. Likewise, having tasks organized allows people to begin doing those ones that require more attention or effort. This allows people to finish them all more quickly since there is more mental clarity and then continue with the easiest ones.

Another typical method to avoid distractions is to put apps like social media on silent mode when working or doing some tasks. Cell Phone calls are something constant and we cannot stop watching them for a long time. However, something we can do is close the tabs or apps that are useless for that moment and keep us feeling distracted. We do not have to blame technology since it is a great partner to do many tasks. We just need to know how to use it in a smarter and more strategic way.
